| Q: |
How
do I know if my Wheel can be repaired? |
| A: |
Most
damage to your wheels can be repaired, including
cracks, breaks, bends and all appearance
defects like "curb rash" and clear
coat peeling. However, if the damage has stressed
or warped in the center structure of the wheel, it
can not be safely repaired. Our Expert technicians
will make that determination during our thorough
inspection process.
|
| Q: |
What
is the average turn around time for repairs to be
processed? |
| A: |
The
average turnaround time for repair requests is
24-48 hours. However, because every repair is
different, some requests could take longer like
chrome plating, re-drilling or special finishes, etc.
|
| Q: |
My
lug holes are enlarged because my wheel came
loose. What can you do? |
| A: |
In
most cases, we can even repair this type of damage.
We weld the damaged holes completely shut, and
then re-drill and re-machine the damaged area.
Then the wheel is refinished, because the extreme
heat of the welding discolors the wheel. This service
does require both additional time and expense.
|
| Q: |
I
tried to straighten the wheel myself, and it
cracked. What can you do? |
| A: |
We
can put your wheel though our time tested and
proven repair process. Repairing aluminum wheels
is extremely complicated and should be left to the
professionals. Unless the wheel was severely
stressed, your wheel should be fine.
|
| Q: |
O.K.,
but what about the safety of a repaired wheel? |
| A: |
Because
our expert technicians will reject any wheel that
is damaged beyond repair, this should not be a
concern. In addition, we use pure 5356 aluminum to
make all welds. These welds are often stronger
than the original porous casting of the wheel. All
of our repair work is covered by our
"lifetime" warranty.
|
| Q: |
Do
you use paint or powder coat? |
| A: |
We
use both, as each has a distinctive advantage over
the other, as well as certain inherent
characteristics that make them ideal for different
types of wheels. Many times the refinishing
process will require both.
|
| Q: |
My
wheels "look bad", but are not damaged.
What can you do? |
| A: |
First,
let's examine WHY they look bad.
If
your wheels are clear coated, then something has
damaged the clear coat finish. The usual culprits
are age, harsh cleaning chemicals, abrasives and
more. We can refinish these wheels so you
can properly maintain them afterwards.
If
your wheels are not clear coated, then they are
probably suffering from the normal oxidation
process. The oxidized layers must be removed, then
we restore the "super shine" and coat
the wheel for added protection.
|
| Q: |
My
wheels are not severely damaged. Is it cheaper
than your already low repair price? |
| A: |
No.
We charge one low price for all types of repair
work, including repair and refinishing. The only
variables are the size and finish type, ie.
chrome, etc.
|
| Q: |
I
want to widen my wheels. What can you do? |
| A: |
Nothing.
Because of the safety issues regarding that type
of service, we do not widen wheels.
|
| Q: |
My
chrome wheel is damaged, what can you do? |
| A: |
If
the damaged area is not on the face of the wheel,
we can make the repair without re-plating for our
normal repair price. However, if the face of the
wheel is damaged, it must be re-plated as well.
This service does require both additional time and
expense.
|
| Q: |
My
chrome wheel is peeling, what can you do? |
| A: |
If
the damaged to the wheel is limited to just
cosmetic peeling, then it just needs to be
stripped and re-plated.
|
